AURORA, Colo. — July 27, 2026 — The Colorado Secretary of State's Elections Division has officially confirmed that Dr. Samir Witta, an independent candidate for Colorado's 6th Congressional District, has qualified for the November 3, 2026, general election ballot.
Surpassing the state's signature requirement, Dr. Witta's grassroots campaign submitted 2,841 petition signatures gathered over several weeks through a community-driven effort involving local volunteers, faith leaders, and outreach teams across Aurora, Centennial, Littleton, and the surrounding communities of District 6.
Dr. Witta personally met thousands of voters outside grocery stores, places of worship, and community centers—listening directly to residents' concerns about unaffordable healthcare, skyrocketing rent, rising HOA fees, the crushing cost of living, and party leadership that ignores their struggles.
"Every one of those signatures is more than just a line on a page—it represents a movement," said Dr. Witta. "It is a voter—whether Democrat, Republican, Independent, or someone who has never voted before—saying they are tired of being ignored and ready for something new. Washington pours funds into political games and foreign wars while our neighborhoods struggle with basic costs. I am running to deliver real representation answerable only to the people of District 6, not corporate donors or party bosses."
With unaffiliated voters now outpacing both registered Democrats and Republicans in Colorado, District 6 has become prime ground for independent leadership.
Dr. Witta is an oncologist who has practiced medicine in District 6 for more than 25 years. As the founder of Mountain Blue Cancer Care, he has witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of patients—not just fighting cancer, but battling a system that puts corporate profits ahead of people. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Witta is an active community builder, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who founded initiatives such as AnthioGen, Empower Her Color, and All The Children of Light, focusing on healthcare access, minority women's health, and refugee support. As a young man in Czechoslovakia, he also participated in the historic Velvet Revolution, fighting for freedom and democratic reform.
Running on a platform of Reform, Restore, and Respect, Dr. Witta has pledged to lower healthcare deductibles and drug prices, challenge health insurance monopolies, cap rising rent and HOA fees, and remove corporate and Wall Street influence from Congress. As an Independent, Dr. Witta accepts no corporate, insurance, or Wall Street PAC money.
